Any group that calls women 'pregnant individuals' ain't worthy of your donations, not now, not ever. But honestly, a lot of global aid groups are just a big waste of resources, totally ineffective and shady, so it kinda makes sense. Steer clear of giving to these kinds of organizations, particularly child sponsorships, which are just a complete scam.

After being a monthly donor for a year, I found out that Oxfam had shared my personal details with a bunch of other non-profit organizations, without my approval. I figured this out because I used a different version of my last name with them, which only Oxfam knew. Now, I’m getting flooded with mail from these third parties in my mailbox, and I have to unsubscribe from each one separately, expecting a new organization to pop up every week. It’s really disappointing that my contributions to them aren’t enough.

About 7-8 years back, I attempted to establish something similar in Nicaragua. The approach was quite straightforward: 1. purchase a few cows. 2. lease some land for the cows. 3. employ someone to look after them. 4. sell at a minimal price or give away any calves to the caretaker. For the locals, it just didn’t click; it was unusual, something that wasn’t the norm, leading to ongoing friction and obstacles. (Why would you want to buy cows? But you ain't living here all the time... Who's gonna look after your cows when you're not around? You can't even check if they're being taken care of.... and it went on and on) I genuinely wanted to assist, but I wasn’t about to just throw money around. These situations are tough, and just because you have a good intention doesn’t mean there’s gonna be understanding, teamwork, and backing from the community. So when I stumbled upon Oxfam, I was blown away. Here’s a group that’s dedicated to empowering people to help themselves. To put it mildly, I’m really impressed. Keep it up, folks, you’re doing fantastic work.

I’m aware that Oxfam puts in solid work looking into how well charitable organizations perform in terms of transparency, the percentage of funds received that actually support services, or go towards marketing and admin costs. Because of this, I feel good about my contributions really making a difference!

Calm and considerate towards those you assist, viewing them not merely as items, but as kin in a shared human family. Much love.

Making a donation was super simple. Plus, they showed appreciation right away, which is pretty cool. Not every charity does that.

The effort you put in on the ground is commendable. Yet, after I contributed to your cause about a week back, I've received two rather pushy requests for a review. These demands (not just casual asks) are ridiculous considering when I made my donation. Your actions are so frustrating that I’ll definitely spread the word. I won’t be donating again.

Awesome cause. Glad to contribute. However, I’d rather not be reached out to for more donations. I give sporadically to just a handful of charities, and Oxfam is now part of that list. Still, I like to donate when I can. Once I choose a charity, I’ll send more funds as I’m able. Appreciate it!

I haven't had direct dealings with Oxfam 'America' itself. I've always admired Oxfam's work and initiatives globally. Just to clarify, I live in Canada, and my $50 donation was meant for OXFAM, not just Oxfam 'America'. So, I'm pretty upset that my contribution was changed to US dollars when they charged my credit card. I think that's pretty shady, and I won't be donating again.

I’m really impressed that you’re the only NGO lending a hand to the needy, ill, and kids in Yemen without any strings attached. That’s the way we oughta approach helping folks globally.
